What Does Headquarters Counseling Center Do?

Trained volunteers will listen to you and provide non-judgmental support for whatever you might be going through. It is confidential, free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to anyone in Douglas County. In Lawrence you can call 841-2345 and from Baldwin City, you can call 888-899-2345.

Is it Really Confidential?

Headquarters volunteers will not talk to anyone about your call unless you or someone else are in danger of being hurt. We want you to be emotionally and physically safe, and will work with you to help you achieve that. Headquarters Counseling Center does not have caller ID.

When Would be a Good Time for Me to Call?

If you just need someone to talk with feel free to call us. You are welcome to call any time. Some common reasons young adults call are:

• School pressure
• Relationship problems
• Family pressure
• Problems being accepted
• Peer pressure
• Bullying, including cyberbullying and internet harassment
• Concerned about a friend or family member
• Feeling sad, lonely or depressed
• Self harm
• Abuse
• Rape or sexual assault
