The topics offered by our Children’s Safety Program have been identified as critical to our mission of keeping children emotionally and physically safe. Our presentations - Home Alone Safety, Talking To Strangers, Internet Safety, and Cyberbullying - help children learn how to make safe choices when home alone, in the community, and on the internet.

Presentations are offered to Kindergarten through 6th grade classrooms in private and public schools throughout Douglas County.

Materials used for Children’s Safety Program presentations and handouts are informed by national and international data and trends as much as they are by local and regional trends. Internet safety research is extensive and several large surveys have recently disproved much of what we believed was happening online with our children.  Presentations are constantly evolving to reflect what is known about youth internet usage and the threats that kids face online, as well as personal safety for kids in the community.

HQCC offers presentations to Douglas County teens on depression, suicide prevention and safe intervention. We can also provide resource materials to students interested in any aspect of social services in which Headquarters is involved, and referral information for any social services offered in Douglas County.
