An Announcement from Andy Brown, Executive Director of Headquarters, Inc.:

Dear freinds,

Earlier this month, I accepted an appointment with the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services as the Prevention Program Manager and resigned as Executive Director of Headquarters, Inc. My last day will be December 1st. While I wasn't seeking a new position, I'm excited about the opportunity to manage the state's behavioral health prevention efforts.

I have spent the last few weeks preparing for my departure from Headquarters, Inc. I have met extensively with the board and staff to ensure a smooth departure, as well as many of our community partners. I have the utmost confidence that my departure will not impact the daily operations of Headquarters, Inc. in the least. Headquarters staff and volunteers will continue to provide life-saving services through its counseling and training programs. The board will continue to look for ways to increase the agency's capacity to serve the communities and people of Kansas. I hope that your support will continue as well.

I feel sad about moving on because Headquarters is a very special agency that does a tremendous amount of good and it's been important to me. Seeing the impact Headquarters Counseling Center and the Kansas Suicide Prevention Resource Center has had on communities across the state has been incredible. I feel privileged to have been a part of this effort. I am confident that with your continued support, Headquarters will be able to impact many more lives. We have an amazing group of donors, advocates, volunteers, board members and staff that make Headquarters, Inc an amazing organization doing great work. I hope you feel as much a part of that as I do. It's been an honor to serve at Headquarters and thank you for your support over the past several years.

Sincerely,

Executive Director

As we say Goodbye to Andy, click here to make a gift in his honor and leave him a note; or make an additional gift to help everyone at Headquarters, Inc. through this transition period. A fundraising goal of $10,000 would be an incredible send-off to a wonderful executive director and amazingly nice guy. If you've never met Andy personally, make it a goal in life. As we hear all the time, "everyone loves Andy."

Since 2014, Andy has played a critical role in the development and success of our organization, and we wish him continued success in his future endeavors. We want to thank Andy for his significant contributions which involved several accomplishments, including:

  • Restoring the crisis center to 24/7 operations as a part of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
  • Establishing the Kansas Suicide Prevention Resource Center
  • Providing testimony resulting in Kansas’ adoption of the Jason Flatt Act, requiring school district personnel to complete annual suicide prevention training
  • Achieving accreditation for the Online Emotional Support program

The Headquarters, Inc. staff and Board of Directors has assembled a transition team to assist with daily operations. During this transition period, it is our priority to maintain an efficient and effective organization for our communities. With this in mind the Board, staff, and volunteers ask for your ongoing support as we continue along this successful trajectory.
